Temperature controlled transport certified by IATA's Pharma CEIV certificate

Finnair Cargo passed IATA’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics program (CEIV Pharma) as first airline in the world. Finnair joined the program under the successful Brussels Airport CEIV Pharma Community approach, as Brussels is Finnair Cargo's 2nd hub.

Pharmaceuticals (e.g. vaccines, biotech medicines) are among the most delicate products transported as air cargo, and therefore, it is essential to ensure their transport follows a global standard and strict temperature control guidelines.

Next-generation Airbus A350 XWB aircraft on Finnair routes

Finnair inaugurated a new era in transport between Europe and Asia – and opened a new chapter in its history – with the introduction of the next-generation Airbus A350 XWB aircraft starting from late 2015. Finnair is the European A350 launch customer of this completely new aircraft type, which brings a significant increase in cargo capacity and substantially raises the bar for both environmental performance and operational efficiency, thanks to its superb payload/range capability and usage of lighter materials accross the aircraft.
The new aircraft ontributes to ever improving cargo shipping reliability as the expanded cargo capacity reduces the risk of offloadings.

Finnair was also the first airline in the world to operate the A350 on scheduled services to China, with the A350 flying Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai routes. In addition to the Chinese routes the A350 also serves Bangkok, Seoul, Singapore as well as Tokyo and Osaka routes. Within Europe the A350 flies the London route daily.

* Changes in aircraft type are possible for operational reasons.

Finnair has 19 A350 aircraft on order and has phased out A340 aircraft from its fleet, leaving the entire widebody fleet comprised only of top-of-the-range Airbus A330 and A350 aircraft.

The eco-smart design of the A350 brings more than 20 per cent improvement in fuel efficiency and operating cost over the previous generation of aircraft in its class, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of Finnair and each shipment carried by the new aircraft.
